| They placed me in this land on a warm summers day,
They told me I was made of dirt and clay,
A small child now of this place,
One more go around in the rat race.
Three days old I went to my new home,
My path set out a babe till grown,
In the land of dreams,
Or so it seems.
My memory wiped blank for a time,
My soul on hold for their crime,
The tears filled me to the brim,
The future was looking grim.
Into a sleep I did go,
As time passed I did grow,
Till the day I seen those words again,
Asking where have you been while you were asleep in sin.
Memories unleashed like wild birds,
When I heard him repeat those words,
The dawn did break and came a new day,
As nighttime fell shadows came my way.
Shadows of a past long forgotten,
I’d grown up sour and rotten,
But time they say mends all wounds,
And I have no doubt HE is coming soon.
No place to run or to hide,
On wings of a dove I do glide,
You’ve been told and you’ve been warned,
No longer shall HE see loved ones scorned.
