Wednesday,Dec 9 2009, 02:19:56 PMHow to Avoid Internet Fraud
Step1)Buy from the companies you know and trust.
Step 2)Use the Internet to research a company's history. You can find a lot of information on the corporate Web site.
Step 3)Check epinions.com for ratings and reviews by other consumers before you buy.
Step 4)Guard your personal information. Give your credit card number only if you are making a purchase, never to verify your identity.
Step 5)Refuse to give out your Social Security number unless you are applying for credit or employment.
Step 6)Pay by credit card. You can dispute charges through the credit card issuer if you have problems later.
Step 7)Be aware that there are differences between sales by an individual and sales by a business. Your legal rights may differ based on whether the seller is an individual or a business. You may have difficulty pursuing your complaint against an individual if the merchandise was misrepresented, broken (defective) or never delivered.
Step 8)Avoid judging reliability by how nice or polished a Web site seems. It is relatively easy and inexpensive for anyone to create, register and promote a Web site.
Step 9)Avoid downloading programs just to see pictures, listen to music or get access to other features from Web sites with which you are unfamiliar. You could end up downloading a computer virus that wipes out your computer files.
Step 10)
Don't click on a link or give out personal information via e-mail. Contact your institution to let them know that you have been targeted for a phishing scam.Never respond to a 419 scam. They will take your response as interest and continually harass you.
Wednesday,Dec 9 2009, 02:03:53 PMHow to Recognize Common Internet Scams
01)Look out for phishing scams. You have likely been targeted for a phishing scam at one time or another. These scams involve an e-mail sent from a person pretending to be from an institution that you use. They ask for your personal information or tell you to click on a link.
02)Watch out for 419 scams. This Internet scam is another common con that criminals use. They ask you to be a liaison and help them access money from a bank account. They state that you will get a cut of this money.
03)Check to make sure that a charity request is legitimate. You ...

Sunday,Nov 29 2009, 01:47:29 PMAlert: Military Dating Scam!
The latest trend involves trolling internet dating sites and convincing women that they are honorable Soldiers who have fallen in love and would do anything to communicate with the object of their affection. But, because they are deployed to Afghanistan or Iraq, they need you to sign up for an expensive telecommunications service like "Military TELEX" in order to make that happen. They profess unending love as their motivator and, unfortunately, many women have fallen for it. Like soldiers don't have enough to worry about, they are also being used and ...

PS: I see you’ve already added my buddy "somewickedmojo" :) It’s good to see that there are more and more of us getting together to make it harder for these parasites/vultures to prey on the innocent/naive/vulnerable!
PSS: I hope you don’t mind but I copied your journal information to post on my page. The more information I can provide on my profile the better.

Thanks a million i have someone who sees it like I do. I have been on various date sites and the worse is out of 10 beautiful girls from especially Ukraine 9.9 % are scammers and not to mention the african states, As u say father killed and they are at a refugee cam and all that crap, American officers from Iraq and various bank directors from African nations tell u they have some ill gotten money and want to send to u . Wat a shame they use theses social sites to scam people from around the world. Its really sickening coz its such a useful tool to network and we have scums like these abusing the net for ill and sinister intentions. Lets share in future who is a scammer and who is not. Salute u .
